Discover Kinusaiga, a modern Japanese art form that transforms fabric into beautiful textured artwork, without a single stitch. In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn how to cut, place, and tuck fabric into a foam substrate, creating a one-of-a-kind 5”X7” framed art piece to take home. Personalize your artwork with your choice of design templates, fabrics, and frame color. Whether you are a seasoned crafter or trying something new, you’ll enjoy the satisfying rhythm of working section by section as your design comes to life. All tools and materials are included. If you have fabric scraps you’d like to use, please feel free to bring them.

In this class you will:

  • Learn the fundamentals of the modern Japanese art form, Kinusaiga

  • Explore the use fabric color and pattern to create depth and visual interest

  • Complete a personalized 5”X7” framed artwork

  • Leave with the knowledge and confidence to create future Kinusaiga projects

Artist Bio:

Jenny Lounibos is a lifelong crafter who finds joy and purpose in giving new life to discarded and overlooked materials. Her love of upcycling was sparked by her mother, a former kindergarten teacher who saw creative potential in every bottle cap and paper towel roll. Jenny channels that same spirit into her work today — transforming the forgotten into the functional, the whimsical, and the wonderfully punny.

She is the owner of Crafty Earth Monkey, LLC, where she sells handmade goods made from thrifted, repurposed, and sustainable materials. As a facilitator and trainer, Jenny brings over two decades of experience leading adults through workshops ranging from smoking cessation and corporate communication to scrapbooking and mixed-media crafts. With a background in theatre and improv, her teaching style is playful, inclusive, and deeply engaging—encouraging curiosity, experimentation, and joy at every step.

Cancellation Policy:

Our workshops are intentionally small so everyone has plenty of space, support, and time to create. Because of our limited capacity, each cancellation makes a big difference.

  • Cancel 14 or more days before your workshop: You'll receive a full refund to your original payment method.

  • Cancel between 48 hours and 14 days before your workshop: We'll issue you a Patchwork credit that can be used toward any future workshop or retail purchase.

  • Less than 48 hours before your workshop (or no-shows): Unfortunately, we aren't able to offer refunds or credits.

If you can't make it, you're always welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend—just send us their name and email before the workshop begins.

If Patchwork needs to cancel or reschedule a workshop for any reason, you'll have the choice of a full refund or a credit toward a future event.

We know life happens, and we'll always do our best to be kind and accommodating. Thanks for understanding that these policies help us continue offering small, thoughtfully curated workshops for our community.

Parking:

If you are driving to the workshop, there is only street parking on Washington Blvd. and surrounding residential streets. Make sure to allot enough time to find parking in advance of the workshop’s start time.
