Make your own pair of Lane Pants by Sydney Graham in this two-day sew-along workshop designed for confident beginners. Over one full weekend, we'll work through the pattern from fabric cutting to final hem, learning garment construction, fit, and finishing techniques along the way.

The Lane Pants are a relaxed, wide-leg trouser with an elastic waistband and an easy, everyday fit. You’ll have the option to customize your pants with a cargo pocket, ruffle hem, and/or your choice between a drawstring or elastic waistband. With guidance throughout the process, you'll learn how to confidently work from a garment pattern and leave with a finished pair of pants you'll actually want to wear.

What You'll Learn:

How to read and work from a garment sewing pattern
Understanding fabric layout and cutting
Garment construction and seam finishing using a serger
Installing pockets
Inserting an elastic waistband or drawstring
Hemming and finishing techniques (optional ruffle and cropped hemlines)
Tips for making the pattern again on your own

Skill Level:

This workshop is designed for confident beginners who are comfortable operating a sewing machine and have completed at least one or two beginner sewing projects. You should be familiar with basic sewing machine functions such as threading, winding a bobbin, sewing a straight stitch, and backstitching.

If you've taken one of Patchwork's Intro to Machine Sewing or Stash Pocket Tote Sew-Along workshops, you're ready for this class. This is not an introductory sewing class and is not recommended as a first-ever sewing project.

Please choose your size based on your current measurements . We’ll use this information to make sure we have the correct pattern size prepared for you and, if you've selected the Fabric Provided option, that we have enough fabric prepared for your size.

Bring Your Own Fabric — $195

Bring 2.5–3 yards of pre-washed woven fabric suitable for pants, such as linen, cotton twill, or lightweight denim, along with matching thread.

Fabric Provided — $235

Prefer to make your pants with fabric from Patchwork? Choose from seven curated fabric options when you register. Options are pictured below. Your 2.5–3 yards of fabric will be washed, prepared, and ready for you when class begins.
A few notes on the color names for these fabrics... The “khaki” linen is more of an earthy, muted green, and the “denim” cotton is not actual denim, it’s just a color reminiscent of denim, hence the name.

Use of all studio sewing tools and equipment

What to Bring:

If you're bringing your own fabric, please bring:
- 2.5–3 yards of pre-washed woven fabric. Take a look at the Fabric Requirements chart to determine how much to bring based on your chosen size.
- Matching thread
You're also welcome to bring lunch, snacks, and any food or beverages you'd like during class. Water will be available in the studio. Please note that we do not have a refrigerator or microwave. We'll take breaks throughout each day, with plenty of time to work at your own pace and get help as you go.

Cancellation Policy:

Our workshops are intentionally small so everyone has plenty of space, support, and time to create. Because of our limited capacity, each cancellation makes a big difference.

Cancel 14 or more days before your workshop: You'll receive a full refund to your original payment method.
Cancel between 48 hours and 14 days before your workshop: We'll issue you a Patchwork credit that can be used toward any future workshop or retail purchase.
Less than 48 hours before your workshop (or no-shows): Unfortunately, we aren't able to offer refunds or credits.

If you can't make it, you're always welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend—just send us their name and email before the workshop begins.

If Patchwork needs to cancel or reschedule a workshop for any reason, you'll have the choice of a full refund or a credit toward a future event.

Parking:

If you are driving to the workshop, there is only street parking on Washington Blvd. and surrounding residential streets. Make sure to allot enough time to find parking in advance of the workshop’s start time.
